Iran cautions that regional flights may be suspended due to restrictions on its airlines.

Iran has issued a warning that regional air travel could be disrupted if Iranian airlines continue experiencing denied access to flights and airport services. Mohammad Mokhber, a high-ranking adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, expressed Iran’s position on social media, stating that regional countries should not align themselves with US policies against Iran. He emphasized, “Either air travel in the region is available to everyone or to no one,” suggesting a potential reprisal that would affect all countries if Iran is barred from air travel.

The warning follows the expansion of flight restrictions on Iranian airlines amid ongoing US sanctions. Recently, Iraq’s Najaf International Airport and the United Arab Emirates suspended all flights to and from Iran based on these sanctions, with US Treasury officials indicating that Iranian airlines would face operational halts. The situation is exacerbated by stalled negotiations regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global energy supplies.
