Iran cautions that regional air travel may be suspended due to restrictions on its airlines.

Iran has issued a warning regarding potential disruptions to regional air travel if Iranian airlines continue to be denied access to flights and airport services. Mohammad Mokhber, a senior adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, stated that Tehran will not tolerate regional nations aligning with the United States’ “hostile policies” against Iran. He emphasized that air travel must be accessible to all or none, implying that if Iran is barred from air travel, other countries in the region will face similar restrictions.

This warning follows a recent expansion of restrictions on Iranian airlines due to U.S. sanctions. Notably, Iraq’s Najaf International Airport has suspended all flights to and from Iran, and the United Arab Emirates has also halted flights by Iranian carriers, citing U.S. restrictions. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent indicated that these sanctions will culminate in an operational halt for Iranian airlines.

Furthermore, negotiations around the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran have stalled, particularly regarding the critical Strait of Hormuz, which is vital for energy and goods transportation.
