She reflected on the challenges of dating, saying, “It got quite tricky because of the nudity on the show.” Many men she dated had preconceived ideas about who she was or how she behaved. In an unusual encounter, one date—who had political aspirations—expressed concern about how her past work could impact his potential future.
Rossum, who was 24 when Shameless premiered, elaborated on her experience, saying, “You’re trying to figure out who you are… and there are all these preconceived notions about you.”
