Gangnam-gu Offers Free Dog Boarding for Chuseok
As Chuseok approaches, residents of Seoul are preparing for family trips, leaving their pets behind. With many owners opting for pet hotels, demand for boarding is surging, with reservations reportedly doubling or tripling at some facilities.
To support pet owners, Gangnam-gu is offering a “Chuseok holiday dog care shelter” program, providing free boarding for up to 50 registered dogs for up to five days at six designated facilities from September 23 to October 5.
Mungpa, one of the participating centers, has reported a significant rise in bookings during this period. CEO Lee Seol-hwa emphasized their commitment to attentive care and safety, with staff available 24/7 to address any health or anxiety issues.
While some owners are opting for boarding facilities, others prefer keeping their pets at home, utilizing services like Wayo, which sends caregivers to homes for feeding and playtime. Additionally, neighborhood platforms like Karrot offer part-time listings for pet care arrangements, enabling personalized care.
This holiday rush is not just about traveling for families, but also ensuring pets receive proper attention and care while their owners are away.
