Seniors Aged 60 to 90 to Represent the USA at Global Esports Games in Los Angeles

A group of seniors, aged 60 to 90, is gearing up to represent Team USA at the Global Esports Games this December in Los Angeles. They meet weekly in Columbus, Ohio, to play video games like “Mario Kart.” This initiative, organized by the Health-E-Gamer Foundation, aims to combat loneliness among older adults.

Melita Moore, the foundation’s founder, emphasizes the health risks associated with social isolation, such as increased chances of dementia and heart disease. The team has been gaming together for two years, and this competition will feature participants from over 100 countries, making the US and Belgium the only nations with senior gaming teams.
