Nintendo of America has secured a $4.5 million judgment against James Williams, also known as “Archbox,” for selling pirated Switch games. The lawsuit, filed in 2024, claimed Williams was the main operator behind several illegal online “Pirate Shops.” Notably, Williams did not respond to the allegations in court, leading to a default judgment in favor of Nintendo. As part of the ruling, he is required to shut down access to all shops offering pirated Switch games.
The outcome underscores Nintendo’s aggressive legal stance against piracy, even if the accused fails to defend themselves.
