FIFA’s Infantino commits to fostering ‘dialogue culture’ following backlash over covert World Cup sale strategy.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino is emphasizing a commitment to transparency and improved decision-making within the organization amid recent controversies. Following backlash over his proposed $4.2 billion World Cup sell-off plan, which has since been abandoned, Infantino has suggested an independent review of FIFA’s operations.

He is scheduled to lead a FIFA Council meeting on October 15 that will address consultation with global member federations on enhancing FIFA’s governance practices. Infantino’s tenure, marked by controversial commercial ventures and strained relations with some soccer bodies, is facing scrutiny, especially as he prepares for a March 18 election challenge.

Despite the tensions, he claims to be open to dialogue and feedback from soccer officials, hoping to cultivate a collaborative culture. His previous business moves, particularly involving ties to U.S. politics, have raised eyebrows and highlighted the need for more transparency within FIFA’s leadership.
