Costco secures $184 million in tariff reimbursements, with additional amounts anticipated | Entertainment

Costco has confirmed it received $184 million in tariff refunds, with more anticipated. During its latest earnings call, the company stated that these refunds were reinvested to provide additional value to members, particularly impacting everyday products and non-food goods. CFO Gary Millerchip emphasized that they targeted items that would make the most difference for customers.

The refunds, which include $174 million in principal and $10 million in interest, accounted for more than a third of the total expected refunds. This came on the heels of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling against President Trump’s authority to impose tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, entitling businesses to refunds.

Costco reported strong financial results, with fourth-quarter revenue reaching nearly $96 billion—a nearly 11% increase from the previous year—and an overall yearly revenue of $303 billion. Net income for the quarter jumped 15% to almost $3 billion, influenced positively by the tariff refunds.

Additionally, Costco has been active beyond tariffs, reporting record gas sales and the return of popular products to stores. The company continues to expand, operating nearly 950 warehouses globally, with 647 located in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
