Fire at Largest Pet Store in Mississippi
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Reports indicate that a fire broke out shortly after midnight on Thursday, September 24, at a pet store located at 1998 Highway 49 in Florence, which claims to be the largest in Mississippi.
The fire ignited in the back of the store and spread to the fish room before it was extinguished. Fortunately, while the store’s resident monkey, Hollywood, is scared but safe, four prairie dogs were lost in the incident.
The owners and staff are currently working to relocate the surviving animals to safe environments. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
