Dolly Parton’s diverse legacy on display at Nashville museum and hotel

The opening of the Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville is a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Dolly Parton, following her passing in August at age 80. Designed by her longtime creative director, Steve Summers, the museum showcases various aspects of Dolly’s life—from her Smoky Mountain roots to her impact on film, fashion, and philanthropy.

Summers emphasized the personal connection many fans have with Dolly, remarking that each person has their own unique version of her that they cherish. The 20,000-square-foot museum is part of the Dolly Parton’s SongTeller hotel, which features vibrant decor and spaces for creativity, including performance venues and rooms equipped with musical instruments.

A highlight of the museum is Dolly’s original wedding dress, recently rediscovered by her niece. Though the museum’s opening brings joy, it is bittersweet due to Dolly’s absence, as her influence and inspiration continue to resonate with fans and those who knew her.
