Taylor Swift Teases New Music Video Featuring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell
Taylor Swift has offered a sneak peek into her upcoming music video for the song “Patient Zero,” set to premiere during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Sept. 27. The brief teaser aired on “CBS Mornings” on Sept. 24 and showcases cinematic elements reminiscent of her “Tortured Poets Department” era. Highlights include a snowy gravesite scene featuring Swift and Dakota Johnson, as well as shots of Swift at a sink and two individuals jumping into water.
Johnson, a close friend of Swift, was honored earlier this year when Swift wrote a tribute for her in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people. In the essay, Swift described Johnson as one of the most empathetic people she knows.
The teaser arrives shortly after Swift’s surprise announcement of the new single “Patient Zero,” following a countdown on her website. Initially, it was unclear if the song was linked to a specific album. However, the next day, Swift revealed “The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore,” an extended version of her 2025 album, featuring four new songs, including “Patient Zero.”
Swift explained that this extended version came about after she and her collaborators, Max Martin and Shellback, visited Sweden to celebrate the original album’s success. She expressed her gratitude for the positive reception of their work.
Earlier this month, Swift made a surprise appearance at the Emmy Awards in a pre-recorded sketch alongside Mariska Hargitay. During a cryptic moment, she mentioned phrases that fans quickly began to analyze for hints about her new project.
At the MTV Video Music Awards, Swift will be honored with the inaugural Artist Director Honors, recognizing her contributions to music videos and visual storytelling. She’s also received nine nominations, including video of the year and artist of the year.
Stay tuned for the full release of “Patient Zero” and the accompanying video!
