“Charlie’s Angels” Reunite at the Emmys
LOS ANGELES – For one night only, the beloved “Charlie’s Angels” reunited at the 78th Emmy Awards, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic series. Stars Jaclyn Smith (80), Kate Jackson (77), and Cheryl Ladd (75) took the stage to honor their late co-star, Farrah Fawcett, who passed away in 2009.
Before presenting the Emmy for Best Drama Series, the trio paid tribute to Fawcett. Smith humorously remarked, “charisma doesn’t mean a second season,” while honored Fawcett’s legacy, stating, “She’s here, and she’s here with us, and everyone’s collective memory.”
Kate Jackson added, “Vera was the shiniest Angel of all… loved by millions of people all over the world.” Ladd joked about Fawcett’s memorable poster living on in many men’s garages.
The original “Charlie’s Angels” premiered on September 22, 1976, featuring Smith as Kelly Garrett, Jackson as Sabrina Duncan, and Fawcett as Jill Munroe. Ladd joined in Season 2 as Jill’s younger sister, Kris. The show’s run lasted five seasons, ending in 1981.
This reunion marks a special moment as the Angels shared the stage again after their 2006 appearance at the Emmy Awards. The current celebration for the series reflects ongoing recognition of its cultural impact. Smith has even released a memoir titled “I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie,” further marking this memorable year.
