Location: Dyson Baudo Recreation Center, Marietta College
Marietta College is set to hold its annual Energy Technical Exhibition Friday, providing students with a unique opportunity to explore careers in the energy industry, meet potential employers, and witness equipment demonstrations.
Event Highlights:
- Time: 8 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Organizers: The event is student-led, with petroleum engineering students facilitating the exhibition.
- Audience: While primarily aimed at college students, high school students from the region are also invited to learn about the industry and network with faculty.
Features of the Exhibition:
The exhibition—previously known as the Earth, Energy, and Environment Student Conference—will showcase various company booths and demonstrations related to energy. Bob Chase, a professor emeritus and chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology, noted that participating companies typically present a wide variety of career opportunities, including roles for diesel mechanics, laboratory technicians, and engineers.
Students will have the chance to interact with employers and submit resumes tailored to their educational backgrounds.
Student Perspectives:
Hunter Wick, a third-year petroleum engineering major, expressed excitement for the event’s impact on the petroleum engineering community at Marietta College and beyond. Benjamin Petrie, also a student organizer, highlighted the professional experience gained through planning the exhibition, noting it facilitates valuable networking opportunities.
Conclusion:
The Energy Technical Exhibition not only aids students in finding career opportunities but also helps them develop leadership and organizational skills, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry experience.
