Marietta College’s Annual Energy Technical Exhibition Returns
MARIETTA — Marietta College’s annual Energy Technical Exhibition is set to take place on Friday, Sept. 25. This event offers students a unique opportunity to delve into careers within the energy industry, network with potential employers, and observe equipment demonstrations.
Scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center, the exhibition is organized by the college’s petroleum engineering students. It aims to connect industry professionals with students and educators, as noted in a news release from the college.
High school students from the region are also anticipated to attend, enhancing their understanding of the energy sector and allowing them to network with Marietta faculty.
Once known as the Earth, Energy, and Environment Student Conference, the event showcases company booths and live demonstrations of energy-related equipment.
Bob Chase, professor emeritus and chair of the Department of Petroleum Engineering and Geology, highlighted that the companies at the event are looking to hire individuals for various roles, including diesel mechanics, laboratory technicians, and engineers. He encourages students to engage with the booths and submit resumes for suitable positions based on their education levels.
The exhibition also serves as a valuable experience for the college students organizing the event, enhancing their leadership, communication, and event coordination skills.
Hunter Wick, a third-year petroleum engineering major, has participated since his freshman year and has been involved in planning this year’s event since March. He expressed excitement about the potential benefits for the petroleum engineering community at Marietta College and beyond.
Benjamin Petrie, another petroleum engineering major involved in the exhibition’s planning, emphasized the significance of the experience in bridging classroom learning with professional opportunities. “Helping with this event gives me face time with future employers and other industry professionals,” he noted.
