Local Non-Profit Promotes Pet Adoption Awareness
Seguin — A local non-profit organization is raising awareness about the urgent need for pet adoptions in our community.
On Tuesday, Mayor Donna Dodgen proclaimed Thursday, September 24, as Remember Me Thursday Day in Seguin. This day honors the efforts of the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF Texas) to promote pet adoption and recognizes the many animal shelters across the country.
During the proclamation, Mayor Dodgen highlighted the significance of this year’s recognition. “Whereas, Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF Texas) is participating in Remember Me Thursday; and whereas the board members and volunteers of ARF Texas have dedicated their time and resources to shed light on orphaned pets; and whereas ARF Texas will hold a public candle lighting ceremony to remember those animals who died without loving homes and to highlight those still waiting for forever homes,” she stated.
As a dog owner herself, Dodgen emphasized the importance of raising awareness about this issue. “The Remember Me Thursday campaign not only brings attention to orphaned pets in Seguin, Texas, but will also lead to increased adoptions,” she remarked.
The Remember Me Thursday event is an international awareness campaign centered around social media. ARF-TX urges residents of Seguin and Guadalupe County to participate in a public candle lighting ceremony on September 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Seguin. The event encourages people to spotlight their pets and promote the need for more adoptions and care in the community.
