The AABY Foundation is rebranding itself as the ABBY Foundation, which stands for “Animals Better By You.” This decision was announced by Juanita Zavala, the organization’s clinic coordinator.
How We Got Here
Founded in 2004 by Kay Pass, the AABY Foundation started with a thrift store aimed at funding its mission to assist animals and their owners. Pass worked tirelessly to support local animals in the Houston region but has recently stepped back due to health issues. In August, the thrift store located at 22558 Community Drive in New Caney closed its doors.
Going Forward
Despite the changes, the foundation’s services will continue, including low-cost pet vaccination events and support for people experiencing homelessness with pets. The existing leadership and board members will transition to the new ABBY organization.
The ABBY Foundation is set to launch on October 10, coinciding with a low-cost pet vaccination event in collaboration with Alaska’s Hope, Petco Love, and Three Little Pitties. This event will provide immunizations, including the rabies vaccine, and free microchipping.
