Zelenskyy Announces Ukraine’s Willingness for Energy Ceasefire with Russia Following Trump Discussions | Russia-Ukraine Conflict Update

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed Kyiv’s willingness for a bilateral “energy ceasefire” with Russia during meetings at the UN General Assembly in New York. He highlighted concerns about a potential “new massive attack” from Russia, emphasizing that both the U.S. and Ukraine are eager to end the ongoing war before winter.

Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would halt strikes on Russian energy facilities if Russia ceases its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, but clarified that there were no discussions about Ukraine unilaterally stopping attacks on Russian oil facilities. U.S. President Donald Trump, facing low approval ratings ahead of midterm elections, acknowledged the impact of Ukraine’s attacks on Russian fuel processing and discussed strategies for ending the war with Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy also mentioned concerns about winter warfare, requesting additional Patriot missiles from the U.S. to defend against Russian strikes on critical infrastructure. Discussions about Ukraine developing its own production of Patriots are ongoing, with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham supporting the call for an energy ceasefire and offering further financial aid for Ukrainian infrastructure. The situation remains critical, with continued military actions reported from both sides.
