News 12 | Bronx | Up to $200 Energy Rebate Payments Being Sent to Millions of New Yorkers

Millions of New Yorkers are set to receive energy rebate checks, as Governor Kathy Hochul announced that up to $200 will be mailed to 8.2 million households across the state. The distribution began on September 21 and will continue through December.

Eligible residents do not need to apply for the rebate. Joint filers earning under $150,000 will receive $200, while those earning between $150,000 and $300,000 will get $150. Single filers making under $150,000 will receive $100. To qualify, residents must have filed their 2024 New York state income tax return on time, be full-time residents, meet the income criteria, and not be claimed as a dependent.

These rebates are part of the state’s $1 billion Protecting Our Wallets Energy Rebate (POWER) program, aimed at alleviating financial burdens from rising utility and household costs. The checks will be mailed automatically to eligible residents through the end of the year.
