The new Highmark Stadium features art displays celebrating Western New York’s rich history and culture, including work by Seneca Nation artist Caleb Abrams. His six-panel display connects visitors with local Haudenosaunee communities, emphasizing education as a means of sharing culture.
Abrams, a filmmaker and visual artist, aims to portray the current vibrancy of the Seneca people, countering the perception that they belong solely to the past. His artwork includes factual information about the geography of Haudenosaunee territories and cultural contributions like lacrosse.
The exhibit concludes with a panel on the seventh-generation principle, a guiding philosophy in the Haudenosaunee’s Great Law of Peace, which stresses decision-making rooted in the well-being of future generations. Abrams’ work can be found on the 300 level of the stadium.
