Emmy Rossum Embraces Her Natural Texture
At a recent YSL Beauty Block Party held in New York City, Emmy Rossum spoke candidly about her journey to embracing her natural curls. Surrounded by glamorous guests, including NBA star Karl-Anthony Towns and his wife Jordyn Woods, Rossum stood out with her striking hair, which she described as a reflection of her newfound confidence.
“I’ve learned to embrace my natural texture,” Rossum shared. “I spent most of my life feeling like I wasn’t at my most beautiful as my most authentic self, and then eventually I just gave up and it’s been liberating.”
Inspired by Motherhood
A pivotal factor in Rossum’s transformation was the birth of her daughter, who was born with curly hair. Wanting to set a positive example, she decided it was essential to love herself as she is. “I had to practice what I was going to preach,” she explained. “Now, I feel more confident and have found my confidence being more me.”
Interestingly, Rossum noted that her son has even more defined curls than both her and her daughter. She emphasizes the importance of hair care in their family, sharing tips on conditioning and maintaining their curls.
Hair Care Rituals
Rossum uses a variety of products tailored to her needs, alongside nurturing routines for her children. “I prefer to sleep in a silk bonnet to lock in shape and minimize frizz,” she revealed. While she generally avoids hot tools, red carpet events sometimes necessitate a little heat for styling.
Visual Inspiration
Before stepping onto the red carpet, Rossum employs a creative process involving mood boards. “I love to compile hair and makeup inspirations to visualize the look we want to achieve,” she said, ensuring a cohesive and confident presentation.
By owning her natural curls and inspiring others along the way, Emmy Rossum is a testament to the beauty of authenticity.
