Trump to Speak at U.N. General Assembly on Conflicts, Energy Issues, and Economic Matters

President Trump to Address UN General Assembly on Wars, Energy, Economy

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is slated to deliver a speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, where he’ll focus on global conflicts, energy markets, and trade issues.

In previous addresses, Trump claimed the U.S. had significantly weakened Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Now, nearly seven months into a new military campaign, he is expected to convey a similar message about preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the Trump administration maintains that oil and gas flows through the Strait of Hormuz remain “substantial.” However, global oil supply continues to lag behind pre-war levels, disrupting energy markets.

Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz indicated that the speech will emphasize the importance of free navigation in crucial maritime routes, highlighting the need for open commerce amid regional tensions.

Trump will also discuss the conflict in Ukraine, acknowledging its complexity. Vice President JD Vance expressed optimism about eventual progress in resolving the crisis.

The president has scheduled meetings with various world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Venezuelan acting president Delcy Rodriguez. This meeting marks their first in-person conversation since a U.S. military operation ousted former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

Additional discussions with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi are also on the agenda. Trump may address concerns about artificial intelligence, focusing on its societal implications and potential risks.
