TIFTON — As Tifton residents eagerly anticipate the return of La Fiesta del Pueblo, the latest exhibition at the Syd Blackmarr Arts Center is giving them a sneak peek of the cultural festivities through the creative expressions of local students.

The Fiesta del Pueblo art exhibit, currently on display, features over one hundred pieces created by students across all grade levels, as well as adult artists. This vibrant showcase celebrates Hispanic and Latin American cultures in anticipation of the festival scheduled for this weekend.

A collaborative effort among the Tifton Council for the Arts, the Fiesta del Pueblo planning committee, and Tift County Schools, the exhibition highlights the cultural heritage, history, and landscapes of various Latin American and Hispanic countries. Participating artists have expressed their perspectives through a variety of mediums, including drawings, paintings, sketches, and three-dimensional pieces representing homes and buildings.

In a delightful twist, the exhibit also includes contributions from outside the county, featuring works from students at Moultrie’s Okapilco Elementary.

This exhibition marks the third consecutive year it has occurred before La Fiesta del Pueblo, which is in its twenty-eighth year. The exhibit will remain open until September 25, from 12 PM to 6 PM daily, leading up to the main celebration. Selected pieces will also be displayed at the festival.

La Fiesta del Pueblo will take place on September 26 at Fulwood Park from 10 AM to 10 PM, and is free and open to the public. For more details, visit the Tifton Council for the Arts website at tiftonarts.org or the Fiesta del Pueblo website at lafiestadelpueblotifton.org.
