Nighthawks presents a world where vampires are openly acknowledged. Instead of hiding their existence, they now have to navigate a city where exsanguinated bodies are a common occurrence, only needing to bribe the police to point fingers elsewhere.
This text-based RPG is reminiscent of games like *Fallen London* and *Citizen Sleeper*, allowing for a choose-your-own-adventure experience where personal traits evolve through gameplay. For instance, to join a biker gang, you might need to walk into their bar completely naked, boosting your exhibitionist trait, which in turn affects your other stats.

Combat is straightforward, focusing more on the narrative and character development than intricate fighting mechanics. The game allows you to form bonds, take on quests, and explore various paths within a rich storyline.

Exploration and Choices
The first act unfolds like a detective story as you navigate the integrated city of Cradlebridge, filled with political intrigue and side quests that veer into horror, comedy, and drama. The narratives offer depth and surprise, separating them from the main storyline yet enhancing the experience.

You must manage time wisely, as every location and decision impacts your progression before sunrise. The gameplay engages you in maintaining a balance between your vampire instincts and social interactions.
Complexities of Being a Vampire
The game doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of vampirism. Players encounter situations where morality is tested, pushing the narrative boundaries far beyond a mere fantasy. Nighthawks reflects on the nature of power and monstrosity, leading you to question the admiration of vampirism and its chaotic nature.

This game offers both pleasure and guilt, exploring why we find fascination in such dark themes. It’s a profound take on the traditional vampire story, ultimately urging players to engage with their choices thoughtfully.
