Legendary actor Morgan Freeman will serve as the celebrity guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay, airing live from Oxford, Mississippi, ahead of the Ole Miss vs. LSU Tigers matchup this Saturday. Freeman, an Ole Miss fan and honorary degree recipient from the university, discussed his appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. The 89-year-old cited his partner, a professor at Ole Miss, as a reason for his participation, expressing excitement for the event.
This is the third time College GameDay will broadcast from Oxford, last doing so in 2021, with singer Katy Perry as the guest picker then. The show, featuring hosts like Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit, will precede a hotly anticipated game between 2-0 teams, coinciding with Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss.
Freeman, currently starring in the Paramount+ series Lioness, added that he regularly attends Ole Miss basketball games. College GameDay airs at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, September 19.
