Truck procession supporting Special Olympics Nebraska scheduled for Saturday

Truck Convoy for Special Olympics Nebraska

HASTINGS, Neb. — Truck drivers from across the nation came together to support the Special Olympics Nebraska this year. The Truck Convoy event, organized through a partnership between the trucking industry, local law enforcement, and allied partners, drew participants from various companies.

Picnic and Activities

Drivers and athletes enjoyed a picnic and played kickball at the Adams County Fairgrounds. This event marks a long-standing tradition, with one participant reflecting on the joy the athletes express at the event over the past 23 years.

“What stood out for me was watching all the athletes’ faces and the joy it brought to them,” he shared.

Athletes Share Their Gratitude

Athlete Cindy Hemberger expressed how significant the truck drivers’ support is each year:

“It’s really special. It means a lot for us to have the truckers come out and spend time with us when they can be on the road. They take their time off to be with us, and it means a lot.”

Event Details

The convoy will depart from the Adams County Fairgrounds at 9 a.m. on Saturday, heading to the Bosselman Truck Stop in Grand Island for an awards ceremony. Additional information about the convoy can be found on the Special Olympics Nebraska website.
