Mercer County Commissioner Greg Puckett takes on the role of “celebrity server” to promote suicide prevention.

Princeton, W.Va. (WVVA) – Mercer County Commissioner Greg Puckett took on the role of “celebrity server” at Dolly’s Diner in Princeton, aiming to raise awareness for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Tips from his shift will contribute directly to the organization.

Puckett emphasized the need for grassroots support, stating, “This kind of work doesn’t get supported all the time by federal organizations. It’s crucial for us to raise awareness and funds to keep this organization moving forward to help others.”

According to the CDC, West Virginia’s suicide rate has risen by 6.5% over the past 20 years, now 41.7% higher than the national average. For those in crisis, the 988 Suicide Lifeline offers free one-on-one assistance via phone or text.
