Buddy Guy Honored at Radio City Music Hall with a Fully Booked ‘Buddy’s Got the Blues’ Performance

Buddy Guy, the legendary blues musician, celebrated his 90th birthday with a star-studded concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The event, titled “Buddy’s Got the Blues,” featured guest artists like John Mayer, Eric Gales, and Susan Tedeschi, who honored Guy’s influence on the genre.

Though Guy only performed part of the time, his presence was felt throughout the three-hour show. He opened with an acoustic rendition of John Lee Hooker’s “I’m in the Mood” and later brought out his electric guitar for more lively performances, including a duet with Shemekia Copeland on “Rock Me Baby.” The night culminated in a rousing group performance of “Got My Mojo Workin’.”

Despite his age, Guy is still active in music, with plans for a new album set to release next year. He was visibly moved by the tributes and the turnout for the concert, stating, “This is the greatest day I ever had in my life.” The night was a celebration of his remarkable career and enduring legacy in blues music.
