Blake Gendebien Hosts Forum to Address Rising Energy Expenses

NY Congressional Candidate Blake Gendebien Addresses High Energy Costs

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — On September 18, Blake Gendebien, the Democratic candidate for New York’s 21st congressional district, organized a roundtable event in Plattsburgh to tackle the issue of soaring energy prices in the North Country.

Gendebien engaged with renewable energy advocates, specialists in reliability, and lobbyists from regions including Maryland. A key focus of the discussion was on the importance of renewable energy and enhancing energy efficiency.

Gendebien emphasized the need for investment in renewable energy sources and improving home energy efficiency, saying, “We have to invest in renewable energy, invest in renewable natural gas, and work to provide assistance and invest in making our homes as efficient as we can.”

Tom Dennis, a retired energy lobbyist, highlighted the critical elements of affordability and reliability in energy policy, stating, “Affordability, reliability, and to make sure that our energy policy here is affordable for people who are buying gasoline, diesel, and home heating oil… a reliable grid to bring us through the future.”

In response, Gendebien’s opponent, Republican Anthony Constantino, criticized the focus on solar energy, stating, “When I’m in Congress, I will advocate for New York to tap its massive natural gas deposits, and stop the wasteful and extremely harmful solar subsidies for Chinese solar panels that are destroying our farmland.”
