Over 6,000 Animals Get Adopted in the Bay Area – NBC Bay Area

The Clear The Shelters campaign in the Bay Area successfully adopted out over 6,000 pets this August, engaging local shelters and rescue organizations. Notable achievements included:

  • Nine Lives Foundation: Over 80 pets adopted during its first participation.
  • Berkeley Humane: 210 adoptions at their Bark & Meow Around the Block event, featuring the debut of the Pup Cup Café.
  • San Martin Animal Shelter: 68 pets found homes during their Clear The Shelters event.
  • Muttville Senior Dog Rescue: 145 senior dogs adopted, marking a record month for the organization.

Stacy Owen from NBC Bay Area emphasized the community’s impact, thanking families for adopting. This local initiative was part of a larger NBCUniversal campaign that helped more than 135,000 pets find homes and raised nearly $500,000 for shelters. Since 2015, the campaign has facilitated nearly 1.5 million adoptions nationwide and raised over $6 million. Partners like Hill’s Pet Nutrition supported the effort, along with multiple nonprofits.
