The Loft Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition of scientific nature illustrations from Aug. 29 to Sept. 30. Organized by the Great Plains Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI, Inc.), the exhibition aims to connect the University of Nebraska-Lincoln community with the beauty of nature through diverse artworks.
The show features various mediums, including watercolor, colored pencil, ink, and digital formats. Notable pieces include Sara Taliaferro’s “Beetles in Black and White” and a collage showcasing images from a dairy lab. Judy Wu-Smart’s “MilkWeed Visitors Series” highlights insects associated with milkweeds through 3D mixed media, while Rose Werther’s colored pencil sketches exhibit a realistic portrayal of plants.
The exhibition not only showcases artistic interpretations of nature but also serves as a platform for collaboration and community engagement. A reception on Sept. 25 from 2-6 p.m. will allow attendees to meet the contributing artists.
