Invest 98 Generates Dispersed Storms to the East of Bermuda

Invest 98 Drifts West-Southwest, Organization Declines

Current Status

Invest 98, an area of low pressure in the central Subtropical Atlantic, has shown signs of becoming less organized as it drifts west-southwest. The system is currently producing scattered showers and thunderstorms located a few hundred miles east of Bermuda.

Environmental Conditions

Over the next couple of days, environmental conditions for further development remain turbulent. As the system inches westward and southward, a pressure gradient between high pressure over the southeastern U.S. and a stationary front near Bermuda is causing moderate to fresh northeast winds and moderate seas west of the front.

Future Outlook

High pressure is expected to dominate the region into the weekend. A broad upper-level low east of Florida will continue to support scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms over most forecast waters. The estimated chance of formation remains unchanged at 20% through the next 48 hours and 30% over the next 7 days.
