Famous Waitstaff Generate Funds for Ronald McDonald House at Winooski Event

Local Celebrities Serve Up Support at Annual Wait-a-Thon

Winooski, Vt. (WCAX) – On Thursday evening, local celebrities swapped their usual outfits for waiters’ uniforms to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House.

The annual Wait-a-Thon at the Waterworks restaurant in Winooski is aimed at supporting sick children and their families in need. The Ronald McDonald House in Burlington offers accommodation for families with children in hospitals, providing them a much-needed place to stay during difficult times.

WCAX Vice President and General Manager Jay Barton was one of the six celebrity waiters participating this year. Diners could choose their favorite waiter, and all tips collected would benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

“Last year we raised just under $50,000. We’re hoping to exceed that this year,” said Kristine Bickford, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House. “The tips collected tonight translate into rooms and food for families who stay with us, at no cost to them.”

Marko the Magician entertained guests throughout the evening, making the fundraiser a fun and enjoyable experience.

The event is scheduled to run until 9 p.m., aiming to bring in much-needed support for families facing hardship.
