Tips for Thanksgiving Travel
Decatur, Ill. (WAND) – With Thanksgiving just over two months away, AAA advises travelers to secure flights and hotel accommodations soon, as prices tend to rise as the holiday approaches.
Key Insights from AAA
-
Booking Timing: Many travelers in Illinois delay booking, anticipating price drops. However, a recent survey revealed that 48% ended up spending more due to increased prices.
-
Limited Options: As the holiday nears, both flight and hotel availability reduce, leading to higher costs.
-
Price Influencers: Rising jet fuel and gasoline prices could further inflate travel expenses this year.
Travel Considerations
-
Flying vs. Driving: Families should evaluate the costs of flying compared to driving. For larger families, flying may become prohibitively expensive. Driving offers flexibility and removes worries about flight delays.
-
Planning Ahead: Travelers who aren’t ready to book can benefit from researching options early. Setting price alerts can help in monitoring fare changes.
By taking these precautions, you can better manage your travel expenses this holiday season.
