Free Animal Adoptions at Haven Humane Society
ANDERSON, Calif. — Haven Humane Society is hosting free adoptions for more than 400 animals as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters event from September 18 to September 26, 2026.
CEO Jim Lewis noted that the shelter has reached capacity due to a large influx of kittens over the summer. He aims to help animals find permanent homes during this initiative.
Lewis emphasized the community’s emotional connection to pets, stating, “The sourest person gets a smile when they see a kitten or puppy… deep inside of us all we want to help with pets.”
The shelter is working to expand its network of local rescues and foster connects.
All dogs and cats at Haven will be spayed, vaccinated, and free to adopt throughout the event.
You can visit the shelter at 7449 Eastside Road, Anderson, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday or at PetSmart on Hilltop Drive, Redding, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday.
