Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) has been awarded the 2026 Green Power Leadership Award by the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) for its impactful procurement in advancing a clean-energy transition towards 100% carbon-free electricity by the end of 2030. The award was presented at the Renewable Energy Markets Conference on September 2.
PWP is recognized for its strategic procurement and investments that enhance renewable energy resources and grid reliability. PWP General Manager David Reyes highlighted that the award reflects Pasadena’s commitment to sustainable energy leadership.
The recognition follows the implementation of Pasadena’s Optimized Strategic Plan and the Integrated Resource Plan adopted in 2023, both aimed at ensuring environmentally responsible electricity provision. Mayor Victor Gordo expressed pride in Pasadena’s sustainability achievements, while Councilmember Justin Jones emphasized the city’s ongoing efforts toward a resilient clean-energy system.
A significant aspect of PWP’s strategy involves expanding local solar capacity and battery storage, exemplified by projects like the Glenarm Battery Energy Storage System. This initiative aims to deliver carbon-free energy during peak demand, supporting grid reliability and initiating new clean energy development pathways.
