IM Games Shop Attracts Visitors with 30th Anniversary Pokémon Cards

Local News: Pokémon Card Release Event at Bored Bard Games

On Wednesday morning, dozens of eager fans began lining up outside Bored Bard Games in Iron Mountain around 7:30 a.m. to celebrate the release of the 30th-anniversary Pokémon card set. Erik Wilson, the store owner, expressed his excitement about the turnout, stating, “It’s a big turnout for the 30th anniversary of Pokémon.” The shop regularly hosts releases for popular trading card games, and this occasion was no exception.

Among those eagerly waiting were Rocco Bertucci, Trevor Schettler, and Jacob Nisiewicz, who shared their anticipation for the new cards. Bertucci, a certified Pokémon “professor,” judges and organizes tournaments and has been involved in Pokémon since childhood.

“Releases to the U.S. used to take years,” Bertucci noted, explaining that the wait is now reduced to three to six months. Pokémon cards serve not only as gaming pieces but also as collector’s items.

Interest in the card game has surged recently, growing from about eight players to 81 over the past few months. Bertucci’s passion for Pokémon stems from his childhood, a sentiment he hopes to share with others in the community.

Bored Bard Games offers a variety of games for purchase and encourages customers to play on-site. Wilson highlighted Pokémon as one of the shop’s biggest attractions.
