Bengaluru’s Pet Travel Surge with Akasa Air
Bengaluru has emerged as a significant hub for pet travel on Akasa Air, accounting for over 30% of all pet journeys since the airline introduced pet travel options on November 1, 2022. Since then, more than 3,700 pet journeys have originated from the city.
Key Statistics:
- 53% Increase: Pet travel from Bengaluru surged from 856 journeys in FY24 to 1,310 in FY26.
- Top Pet Parents: Five of the airline’s top ten pet traveler cities are from Bengaluru.
- Popular Routes: The Bengaluru-Delhi, Bengaluru-Kolkata, and Bengaluru-Guwahati routes rank among the top five for pet journeys, comprising over 55% of all pet flights from the city.
Expanding Destinations:
Pet parents can now travel with their furry friends to 16 destinations, including newer routes such as Bhubaneswar, Pune, and Varanasi, in addition to popular cities like Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
With the growth of pet ownership, there is a noticeable trend of families including pets in their leisure and long-distance travel plans. Akasa Air has transported more than 13,500 pets since its inception, offering flexibility for passengers by allowing them to transport their cats and dogs in the cabin or as cargo, based on their weight.
