Building Blocks of Achievement: Perron Highlights Culture at Coastal

Coastal Carolina Men’s Soccer Team Embraces New Season

CONWAY, S.C. – As the new season kicks off, the Coastal Carolina men’s soccer team is ushering in a fresh look under head coach Adam Perron. Despite the lineup shift—featuring 20 new players—Perron emphasizes that the program’s core values remain steadfast and focused on something larger than just the game.

Building team chemistry is challenging with such a significant influx of new talent, but Perron is optimistic about how quickly the players are bonding. “From the moment guys get here, and even from recruiting conversations, we were very transparent in what we were trying to build here,” he stated.

At the heart of this vision is a commitment to helping each player achieve their full potential. Perron articulates his coaching philosophy succinctly: “My purpose as a coach is just to help guys reach the best version of themselves. And of course, with the team, what’s the best version of that team? That’s what gets me up every morning.”

This philosophy influences the selection process for new recruits. While talent is significant, character is paramount. “The core of it is bringing in the right person,” Perron said. “The players that have the right growth mindset and openness to care about someone aside from themselves will succeed here.”

Once on campus, coaches instill the importance of representing Coastal Carolina and the surrounding community. Perron emphasized this connection: “The wins are not just for us; they’re for everyone. Seeing the joy a result can bring to this community is just so inspiring.”

Team bonding is a priority, with shared experiences through activities, community service, and game day roles helping to strengthen relationships. “I do believe we have a group of guys that genuinely love being around one another,” Perron noted.

The leadership group, including players Dan, Theo, and Beto, played a crucial role in establishing a sense of family and unity during summer practices. Perron remarked, “They did a great job starting to foster that feeling, giving the group a great head start before we could all start working together.”

As the 2026 season progresses, the values imparted by Perron are forming the foundation of the program. With a fresh team dynamic, the Chanticleers are poised to build on these principles throughout the season, both as individuals and collective athletes.
