NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A new partnership was announced between Tennessee, TVA, and the United Kingdom, aimed at speeding up the commercial deployment of fusion energy.
The agreement focuses on the development of supply chains, workforce training, technical research sharing, and coordinating licensing and safety frameworks for fusion projects.
This partnership builds upon Project Infinity in Tennessee and the UK Infinity Fusion Consortium, involving Type One Energy, TVA, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the UK Atomic Energy Authority among other industry partners.
Tennessee recently established a fusion-specific licensing framework to encourage the safe and rapid development of fusion energy.

The effort is expected to create jobs, attract investment, and enhance energy supply chains. It follows other nuclear initiatives in the Tennessee/Kentucky area, including TVA’s planned small modular reactors at the Clinch River site and a proposed Army microreactor at Fort Campbell.
