MARION, Ill. (KBSI) — On Monday, ninety local veterans embarked on their journey to Washington as part of Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois’ Mission 17.
The trip is the culmination of months of planning, fundraising, and preparation. Throughout the journey, guardians and volunteers will accompany the veterans to provide support and assistance.
The public is encouraged to attend a welcoming ceremony for the veterans upon their return, which is expected around 9:30 p.m. This event provides an opportunity for Southern Illinois residents to express their gratitude for the service of these veterans.
