Wilmington Animal Centrix: Supporting Pets and Communities in Southeast North Carolina
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Often mistaken for an animal shelter, Wilmington Animal Centrix functions as a vital regional support network, providing essential resources for pet owners and rescue organizations throughout southeastern North Carolina.
One of the nonprofit’s key initiatives, the Spay Neuter Initiative Program (SNIP), offers free spay and neuter vouchers aimed at reducing pet homelessness. As of 2025, the program has successfully facilitated over 500 procedures.
To accommodate growing regional demand, Wilmington Animal Centrix has partnered with five veterinary facilities where pet owners can redeem these vouchers:
- Fix a Friend Spay and Neuter Clinic in Winnabow
- Cape Fear Spay and Neuter in Castle Hayne
- Adoption First Veterinary Clinic in Jacksonville
- Shoreline Veterinary Hospital in Jacksonville
- Pet Vet on Main in Wallace
In addition to providing subsidized surgeries, the organization also supports other rescue operations. From now until September 30, Wilmington Animal Centrix is conducting a cleaning supply drive to benefit The Ruffian Foundation and Paws Place. Donations are requested to include items like bleach, Clorox wipes, Dawn dish soap, laundry detergent, sponges, paper towels, and trash bags.
Supplies can be dropped off at three collection sites during regular business hours:
- GIO Fund Thrift Store, Leland
- Hollywood Feed at Independence Mall, Wilmington
- Mind Haven Mental Health Clinic, Wilmington
Additionally, the nonprofit will host a “Pints, Paws & Party Girl” fundraising social on Saturday, September 19, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Savard Beer & Board, featuring adoptable pets from various partner rescues including Wagon Tails Farm and Friends of Felines Rescue.
During the event, Savard Beer & Board will donate $1 from every pour of Bikini Line Blonde to support Wilmington Animal Centrix’s community spay-and-neuter programs.
