Weekend Box Office Report
LOS ANGELES – This weekend, Practical Magic 2 topped the North American box office, earning an estimated $30 million from 4,146 theaters. This sequel, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, opened nearly three decades after its predecessor became a cult classic.
The film dethroned Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which had been at the top for six weeks, dropping to second place with $8.4 million, bringing its domestic total to about $935.2 million.

Directed by Susanne Bier, the film is based on Alice Hoffman‘s work and had a budget of $75 million.
While the debut fell within Warner Bros.’ projections of $30-$35 million, the film received mixed reviews, earning two out of four stars from the Associated Press.
