Moss Creator Polyarc Games Announces Shut Down

Polyarc Games, the Seattle-based developer known for the VR puzzle game Moss, has announced its closure after 12 years of operation. The company shared the news on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude for the years spent in game development and the joy of creating experiences for players. Affected employees can find support via a recruiting spreadsheet shared by the studio.

The closure follows the recent release of Moss: The Forgotten Relic and a significant workforce reduction earlier this year when 30 employees were laid off due to funding issues after a project cancellation. Founded in 2015 by former Bungie developers, Polyarc saw success with its Moss titles and a competitive VR game, raising a total of $12.5 million to support its projects.

Despite its ambition to explore augmented reality and other innovations, the studio is now winding down, marking the end of an impactful chapter in the gaming industry.
