Community Call to Action: Help Our Feline Friends
Date: Sept. 14, 2026
This week’s issue of Northern Express, in partnership with The Ticker, focuses on a vital topic: our pets. Kelly Lemcool, owner of Kelly’s Kritters rescue in Grawn, is urging the community to better support our local cat population.
According to Lemcool, “The odds are way against our local outdoor kittens, and only one in four survive to adulthood.” She emphasizes the need for a structured approach to manage our cat population as many felines are often in dire situations by the time they receive help.
With her relentless efforts, Lemcool has already helped 300 cats in 2026 and thousands since she first opened her doors seven years ago. Currently, Kelly’s Kritters cares for up to 40 cats at a time through its facility and fostering program. Read more here.
