Apple is reportedly venturing into the gaming world with new controllers for the iPhone, as noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. For over a year, Apple has been developing these gaming controllers, which may be released under the Beats brand.
Recent code found in a macOS release candidate has alluded to two hardware devices featuring gaming controller components like dual thumbsticks and shoulder buttons. While Apple already sells third-party controllers from brands like Backbone and SteelSeries, the new controllers, codenamed T6502 and T1057, are being designed by Beats executives.
Gurman suggests that Apple is strategically utilizing the Beats brand to explore this new product category, potentially offering a more affordable gaming controller without the usual premium materials. This move could resonate well with the gaming community, as there is a shared aesthetic and cultural overlap.
However, no timeline for the release of these controllers has been disclosed.
