John Nellis, best known for his popular YouTube channel where he interacts with top footballers, is making a surprising switch from sports to dance by joining the cast of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. The 33-year-old content creator will be learning various dance styles alongside other celebrities, including former Love Island contestant Dani Dyer and Australian singer Delta Goodrem.
Originally an air traffic controller, Nellis transitioned to full-time content creation during the pandemic and took a bold leap by quitting his job when he had just over 7,000 YouTube subscribers. His gamble has clearly paid off, as he now boasts 16 million subscribers on YouTube and 2.6 million followers on TikTok, where he was named Sports Creator of the Year in 2024.
Nellis describes his journey as “delusional” and has a tattoo of his initial subscriber count as a reminder of his beginnings. Despite his success, he’s nervous about his dancing skills, stating he’s never danced before and views this as an incredible opportunity to learn and grow.
