Universal Entertainment Corp (UEC) has announced plans to create a new overseas gaming equipment business focused on slot machines, aiming to diversify revenue beyond its current operations. This initiative will be realized through UDN Gaming, Inc., a new company established in Nevada by UEC President Tomohiro Okada. Based in Las Vegas, UDN will initially seek regulatory approvals to operate in the U.S.
Key agreements between UEC and UDN cover financing, intellectual property licensing, and operational support, with UEC providing loans and IP to UDN. Although UEC currently lacks voting rights in UDN, it aspires to incorporate the business into its structure in the future.
The strategy involves navigating Nevada’s gaming regulations, where UDN will pursue initial licenses, allowing progress while UEC seeks its own approvals later. As UDN is wholly owned by Okada, UEC has adopted measures to prevent conflicts of interest.
This expansion aligns with UEC’s goal to establish a “third pillar” of earnings amidst challenges in the pachinko and Philippine integrated resort sectors. The company aims to leverage its existing technologies and expertise in gaming equipment manufacturing. Recent difficulties included a reported loss of JPY231.4 billion for the fiscal year 2025. However, the group has shown signs of recovery, with improved performance in its pachinko and pachislot operations in mid-2026. The new slot machine venture represents UEC’s effort to strengthen its market position and grow internationally.
