CHS-Growmark Invests in Open Tug’s AI Barge Platform
Cooperative Ventures, a collaboration between CHS and Growmark, has made a strategic investment in Open Tug, an innovative logistics technology company focused on enhancing inland and coastal marine transportation. Rob Uhlemann, Director of Enterprise Strategies and Ventures at CHS, highlights the significant advantages this investment brings to the agriculture sector.
Open Tug utilizes a cloud-based AI platform to monitor barge movements along riverways, integrating data from multiple barge companies. This approach employs GPS technology and data aggregation in a command center format, allowing for improved decision-making and operational efficiency.
Uhlemann emphasizes that while CHS has maintained transportation systems for decades, the shift towards Open Tug’s advanced technology represents a crucial step towards modernizing operations. The AI platform enables faster analysis and more impactful decision-making, ultimately enhancing grain transportation efficiency.
