THE RUNDOWN
- Lady Gaga and Michael Polansky “both beam” after becoming new parents.
- News broke on Friday that the couple welcomed their first child together.
- They reportedly took time off in the summer to be with their new baby.
On Friday, Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, publicly announced that they welcomed their first child. A source told People that they “both beam when they talk about being parents.” Polansky “seems lighter, happier,” and they both reportedly took time off of work this summer to be with their baby.
Before this break, Gaga had a busy schedule, wrapping her Mayhem Ball Tour in April and releasing Mayhem Requiem, a concert film and live album, in May. She also appeared in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and contributed the song “Runway” to its soundtrack.
Meanwhile, Polansky continued his work in tech and biotech. He co-founded Outer Biosciences, which focuses on developing new compounds through human-tissue research, and he recently spoke publicly about the company. Gaga also sits on the board of Outer Biosciences, and he’s credited as an executive producer on Mayhem.
Polansky revealed to TechCrunch that the couple met through Gaga’s mother, who insisted on setting them up. When they finally met with their mothers, “it all made perfect sense,” he said. He noted that “people really haven’t gotten to know a certain side of her publicly,” highlighting her brilliance as a businessperson.
The news of them prioritizing parenthood isn’t surprising considering Gaga’s previous feelings of navigating life alone. She told Stephen Colbert nearly a year ago, “I think I felt for a long time like I was navigating this thing on my own and it was hard…and it’s not anymore.”
Gaga and Polansky got engaged in April, and she expressed her desire to start a family, stating, “What I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role.”
