Samuel L. Jackson stars in “Frisco King,” a crime drama spinoff of “Tulsa King,” set to stream on Paramount+ later this year. Jackson plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman turned hustler, showcasing his trademark charisma.
The series features Washington building a criminal enterprise in Frisco, Texas, alongside a youthful crew, including college dropout Teddy and cheerleaders London and Avery. Jackson’s character was introduced in “Tulsa King,” where he allied with crime boss Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone. Manfredi makes a brief appearance in “Frisco King,” but the focus is squarely on Washington’s ventures.
The original title was “NOLA King,” but it was renamed to highlight Frisco’s transformation from a quiet town into a bustling suburb. The series is produced by Taylor Sheridan and has been filmed in Texas, leveraging Sheridan’s expansive Fort Worth studio. Jackson aims to elevate the cast’s performance, adding playfulness to the high-stakes narrative.
The show promises a fresh take on crime with a distinct setting, ensuring audiences will come to recognize Frisco as a unique backdrop.
